Injured Ugandan fishermen evacuated to Hoima Hospital in critical condition

The three Ugandan Fishermen who were reportedly shot and critically injured by suspected Congolese militiamen yesterday in Kikuube district have been evacuated to Hoima Regional Referral hospital in critical condition.

Seremos Byaruhanga, Robert Amukuhikirize and Deo Busobozi, all attached to Nsunzu B landing site in Buhuka Parish Kyangwali sub county in Kikuube district were shot and injured in the wee hours of yesterday morning near the Senjojo landing site in Buhuka parish as they were fishing.

This came after the three resisted the suspected Congolese militiamen’s orders to surrender to them their fishing gear including engines, nets and engines. 

Emmanuel Bisemeza, the Kyangwali sub county Chairperson has called for government’s intervention to thoroughly investigate the motives behind the rampant attacks by Congolese militiamen on Ugandan fishermen on the lake Albert waters.

Attacks by the suspected DR Congo militiamen on Ugandan fishermen have been rampant since 2018.
