Parliament resumes plenary today

Parliament is set to resume its weekly plenary sittings today after a month’s break.
According to the Order Paper from the office of the Clerk to Parliament released yesterday, the House is expected to consider a motion for a resolution of parliament to amend the rules of procedure of Parliament.
During today’s sitting, the House is also expected to approve the designation of members to standing committees and sectoral committees of Parliament, as well as backbench commissioners, administer oaths to some ex-officio Members of Parliament who were appointed ministers but are not MPs.
On June 14, the Speaker of Parliament adjourned the House sine dine, during the 5th sitting of Parliament, however, according to the clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige, in a 6th July 2021 statement issued to all MPs, they were asked to report back to Parliament today at 2:00 pm, to consider Parliament business.
