Up to 25 selected schools in Ibanda district have received donations of hand washing facilities for sanitation and hygiene uplifting and good health by fighting the spread of Coronavirus.
Speaking during the handover of the facilities to the schools across the district today (August 23), Ibanda Resident District Commissioner, Mary Kamaduuka Bashongoka urged the school head teachers to act exemplarily towards the Standard Operating Procedure implementation, by washing hands regularly in the open presence of others, when schools resume operations.
Each of the beneficiary schools, both government and private, received two tanks, fixed on stands and with a tap and basins for waste water, the hand-washing cans, with capacity ranging from 100 to 250 litres, donated by Dutch non-governmental organisation, SNV.
The beneficiaries included those that did well in the school milk programme that was also supported by SNV, according to Kosam Bainomugisha, the retiring Ibanda District Education Officer.
Ibanda District chairman, Herbert Happy Mayanja urged the head teachers to handle them with care to serve purpose for which they were intended.
