Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda of Kitanga Parish Kabale district has asked all categories of leaders to jointly condemn Masaka murders.
While speaking to journalists in Mbarara city, Gaetano has stressed that most leaders are still incompetent and silent which has left a big gap for these murders to increase.
Police has so far arrested 70 suspects in connection to the murder of 27 people in the Greater Masaka districts.
According to Gaetano, the silence amongst leaders is questionable because they have been silent since the murder of the first person.
“We owe our followers apology and may God forgive us. This is the time they need us. Let’s be vigilant because Masaka murders might occur in other districts outside Greater Masaka,” he added.
Police and sister security agencies have increased deployment in Greater Masaka as investigations and operations to eliminate these gruesome acts continue.
