Hailstorm leaves Ibanda on the Verge of a famine catastrophy

Residents of Kagorogoro cell in Kicuzi parish, Kicuzi Sub County in Ibanda South are counting losses after a heavy downpour characterized
by thunderstorm destroyed property including gardens and other food crops.

Speaking to our reporter, Medius Kyarikunda, the lady councilor representing Kicuzi Sub County said that the thunderstorm destroyed food crops, coffee plantations, and houses among others. She says the area is likely to suffer from hunger related problems unless the
government intervenes.

Kyarikunda said that thunderstorms destroyed all banana plantations, beans, Cassava, and now, they request the government through the area member of Parliament Hon Dr. Ninkusiima John Paul and Hon Jane Bainomugisha,  the District Woman Member of Parliament to come to their rescue.

She said that although no causality was recorded, people are likely to die of famine.
