Lightning claims five family members in Alebtong

Lives of five family members have been claimed by thunderbolt in Alebtong district.
Peter Owaa, Vicky Odongo and Desmond Owaa and children below ten years; Raphael Elem and Silver Acur, have been killed by the swift lightning, when it struck their home in Okwaloatala village in Oculukori parish Omoro sub county around 1am yesterday morning.
With the exception of Owaa, the other victims were sleeping when the incident happened, but Owaa, who has been the area LC I chairperson succumbed to the severe burns he sustained while trying to save his grandchildren from the burning house.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying officers from Omoro police station visit the scene and allowed the family to bury the bodies.
Isaac Apenyo, the Omoro Sub-county chairperson called on the district leadership and ministry of disaster preparedness to come to their rescue.
