Eight survive death following serious accident

Eight people are nursing critical injuries at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu City, which they sustained in an accident along Gulu –Kampala Highway.

According to Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, the accident occurred last night gbbbat Myene in Oyam District, when a Toyota Hiace registration number UBJ 568G from Kampala heading to Elegu Boarder town in Amuru District, being driven by one Geoffrey Mayambala lost control and overturned multiple times after one of its tyres burst.

Okema identified the injured passengers as Aisha Nandawula, Sandra Namalome, Ketty Mbabazi, Jorame Nabende, Bernard Tumwesigwe, David Byamukama and Phillip Thiang.

According to Okema, the wrecked vehicle was towed to Kamdini Police Station pending Inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles -IOV, adding that more inquiries are ongoing under Oyam TAR 73/2021.
