Heavy storm washes away houses, gardens in Buremba, Kazo

Over 60 families in Ngomba and Kitamba villages in Buremba town council Kazo district are crying for help following heavy rains that destroyed their homes and crop gardens.
The heavy rain characterized by strong winds and hailstorm started pounding the area at around 5pm yesterday evening and lasted for close to two hours, the rain destroyed houses and several acres of crop gardens.
The most affected areas are Ngomba, Rwamanyonyi 1 and 2, Mataba 1 and 2, Kagando and Rushango in Ngomba Parish among others.
Milton Habiyaremye, the chairperson of Ngomba village, one of the residents whose houses were destroyed, says the rain blew off the rooftop of their houses and destroyed their entire Banana plantations.
Milton says they are worried and May fail to raise food for their families since the Banana they were depending on are no more.
Kwizera Edson, Ngomba parish chairman, whose banana plantations were destroyed says that it was unfortunately for his banana plantations noting it is where he gets income.
Abel Futumukiza, the deputy mayor Buremba town council doubling as the councillor representing Ngomba Parish told Kazo FM that the disaster has greatly affected food production in an area, adding that many families have been left without food and homeless.
He says that they are profiling the affected people and forwarded it to the district and possible the office of prime minister of Uganda.
Hon. Jennifer Rwaburibate Muheesi, Kazo district Woman MP gave a donation of a tonne of maize flour, urging them to plant trees that will help break the wind, all through her political assistant, Denis Chiver.
