Residents from Enkamba village Kitondo parish in Ihunga sub county Ntungamo district today stormed the office of the Resident District Commissioner demanding the release of their colleagues who were arrested for allegedly destroying houses and killing animals of another resident.
The residents say the people who were arrested following the mob are the exact people who have been seeking justice from security officers to help and arrest a resident who wanted to grab their land.
The residents led by Enkamba village LCI Chairman, Vicent Beinomugisha accuse John Beyendeza of being behind the arrest of residents and family members of the late Yona Beguya after he was stopped from selling the family land by family members. Beyendeza is also accused of killing the family head in 1990.
Ntungamo RDC, David Kaboyo said security was handling the situation and shall come to real conclusion. He however said police could not easily release suspects who had allegedly participated in a mob as it may encourage others to do the same.
